any thing i needa know websites any and everything i want to be a happy owner and i want them to be happy and healty animals...thanksIm geting a new rabbit and gennie pig anyinfo i needfa know?
The first thing to know is that rabbits and ';gennie'; pigs should not be kept together. Rabbits are strong and often bully the pigs, and rabbits need to bond with other rabbits, and Guinea pigs need other pigs. Rabbits are a different species and communicate in a totally different way, rabbits and Guinea pigs can ';get along'; but they can never give each other the bond and socialization they need.Im geting a new rabbit and gennie pig anyinfo i needfa know?
As everyone else said, please dont keep them together. Also consider just getting one of the two at a time. Rabbits are extremely intelligent. We have a bunny who is out of his cage (which is a walk in closet, converted into a cage) about 60% of the day. He follows us around and does tricks for treats. Bunnies need lots of attention if they are alone. Rabbits should already be fixed as unfixed rabbits can be a bit nasty.
Guinea pigs are also a decent bit of work on their own needing a large cage and a companion. They make lots of little noises which are cute or annoying depending on your opinion and the situation. They need quite a bit of work coming from a petstore to be handleable.
No matter what you decide please read as much about the animals as possible. It is up to you as their owner to care for them. The more information you have the better an owner you can be. Please know that either of these animals will need tons of attention especially in the first few months in order to make them fun pets and not malajusted.
i used to have a guine pig, but he didnt like to be picked up, but we fed him and my stepdad liked to pick him up sometimes and he lived for 6 years, the average lifespan. not sure about rabbits, but im getting one in easter. Guinea pigs eat hay, special food pellets you can buy at the pet store, and they drink their water out of a little dispenser, sometimes you can slip some special vitamins in it ( ask your pet store owner BEFORE you try) and you can get it used to being picked up bby picking it up from when it is a baby so when it is older it wont be afraid. Sicknesses you need to contact a vet. Make arrangements for a checkup yearly or every 6 months and make sure he/she has its rabies shots and other important shots
Hope it helps!

theres a lot you should know.
i would get books from a pet
store and ask someone at the
pet store for things you need
to know.
just make sure you feed them
the right food... because
one time my mom gave my
guinea pig bird food instead
of guinea pig food... (i had a
hamster and a bird at the
time) and the next day my
guinea pig was dead.
Firstly, dont get a bunnie and piggie at the same time, you wont have time to have 2 new animals in the house in the same time. get one first, and when that pet is comfortable and adjusted, then get the other. and its ok sometimes to put them together, only if they get alone fine,my friend has a bunnie and piggie living together and are best friends.
-They may be small, but guinea pigs require ample space to move about. Make sure their living quarters are at least 18 inches wide, 14 inches high, and 25 inches deep.
-have a hideout for your piggie
-no aquriums!!!
-use bedding espicially made for small animals
-a heavy food bowl resistant to tipping and gnawing and a water bottle with a sipper tube.
-To pick up a guinea pig, slowly place one hand under his chest just behind the front legs, and gently cup your other hand under his hindquarters. Once you have a firm but gentle grip on the animal, lift him. Then immediately pull him close to your chest or lap so he feels safe and doesn't thrash around.
-websites:search on goodsearch.com';guinea pig care';
I don't know much about bunnies so here are a few websites.

search 'rabbit care' using goodsearch
good luck, and please don't buy them from a petstore, go to a shelter and rescue one. :)
ok so dont give the bunnies to many apples
dont put them together the bunnies and guinea pigs
u should never put the guinea pigs in a cold place
idk wat the right temp for bunnies/guinea pigs r but u can search that
umm and sum other stuff but idk all the stuff
Well, there is no such thing as a ';gennie'; pig.
yes i think you will make them very happy just loving them
Guineas are too skiddish. Bunnies are cute. Anyway, that wasn't your question. So...If you go to petco.com or petsmart.com, you can get info on them there. Or you can just google it.
Could go on forever about rabbit care, they are very unique animals and require more depth than people think, oh yeah the may survive, but they are so much happier and more fun when cared for to full extent, plus its the right thing to do.
Please cross reference anything you read, no matter how trusted the site, question all you hear.
yahoo answers does have some great people giving advice, but a lot of people who mean well but don't realize they are mistreating their bunny.
I can't count how many people on here say to use wood shavings for bedding, never use wood shavings, the phenols given off will give small animals respiratory damage.
No veggies that cause gas, no iceburg, celery or other veggies that have no nutritional value or they can die if they eat just that alone, plus increases diahrrea.
Wire bottom cages are terror on their feet eventually.
Unlimited Hay, contact a farmer if pet store charges to much.
plenty of exercise, we only cage ours at night for safety, they are both well potty trained.
Neuter or spay, cuts down aggression and prolongs life by eliminating many possible cancers, make sure vet has a good record of bunny neuters and uses isofluorine or can explain why they do not.
cross reference, cross reference, cross reference
those are just some quick tips, im sure someone can leave yo u a detailed answer or at least provide solid links, find a good vet if you can and ask a lot of questions
Oh and guinea pigs and rabbits actually get along better than two rabbits do, when we go on vacation my mother in law watches our bunnies and they love playing with her guinea pigs. just watch them for a few days, if they get along you'll know, but two rabbits can hate each other or take weeks to get a long if they ever do at all. Give them seperate cages of course and supervise their playing, but our two rabbits are the same size as most adult guinea pigs, so there is little risk of playing to rough, but watch out with the big guys.
good luck
I have a rabbit. You need to pay attention to it every day or else it gets aggressive. Give it sticks or wood, they love to eat the bark and it helps wear down their teeth. Rabbits, if their teeth get too long then they can't eat.
Never give a rabbit too many wet vegetables such as lettuce, carrots even though they love those. Make sure they always have water and some food. Feed they hay/alfalfa and rabbit pellets. I would suggest Bonanza. Every week or so let the run around somewhere. I think that's it. Oh and my rabbit loves to play with toy balls and string for some reason. Oh and clean the rabbits cage every week. Their poop is small but it........multiplies.lol. Hope this helps.
Firstly, do not let your rabbit and guinea pig live together - this is very bad for them:
Rabbits and piggies are both social species and need the company of their own kind. They do not provide proper company for eachother.
Rabbits are very strong and can easily hurt or kill a guinea pig - even by accident. Too many people found this out the hard way!
Rabbits and piggies have different dietary needs. Guinea pigs need guinea pig pellets containing a stabilised form of vitamin C. Rabbit pellets do not contain this, and they do contain supplements that are not good for guinea pigs.
Rabbits often carry pasteurella - a disease that doesn't harm them so they show no symptoms - but it can be fatal to piggies.
Do not waste your time finding pet info from petsmart or petco etc - most of their care info is wrong, even dangerous. If you want your pets to be happy and healthy you need good advice from people who know what they are talking about.
