Can a rabbit live indoors all the time.?

What all will i need be spacific. How much wll it cost, and how do i convince ny parents to lettinge have one if i have a dog that likes to chase squrrils andbirds. Can a rabbit live indoors all the time.?
A rabbit can definitely be an indoor pet. In fact in my opinion, its much safer for them.

CAGE : basic plastic bottom cage $ 80.oo or a larger one for about $130.oo.

* HAY : cheaper by the farm bale. altho a $10.oo bag of Timothy have should last you almost a month. Hay is a ';must have';

PELLETS : $4.oo

WATER BOTTLE : about $ 3.50

* PLASTIC LITTERBOX : a corner one for under $5.oo

a large margerine tub free once the margerine is packed for later use or emptied.

* SHAVINGS : for litterbox up to $10.oo this is a Large bag.

* a couple of good rabbit books

- 1 on health, care + illness so you will recognize it when the rabbit is sick

- the other on rabbit language, ';Why does my rabbit'; is a great book !! For care look up the House Rabbit Society theres lots of good info there.

Join a rabbit group at yahoo if ever you come across a problem. Can a rabbit live indoors all the time.?
yes, i keep mine indoor because the neighbor always let her 4 cats run loose. but of course, i have a 2 bedroom house where my rabbit has her own room.

i bought my cage for $45 (petco or petsmart could be too expensive so go ahead and check out other places or you could make your own).

water bottle $4 at walmart

food at pet food express $9 (last for about a month and a half or 2)

hay $10

chew toys around $5

i can't think of anything else at the moment, but trust me ... rabbits are full of fun and they're not so hard to take care of.

if you have a hunting dog, it might not be a good idea to own a rabbit. i have 2 small dogs, they and the bunny get along pretty well. the dogs are actually scared of the bunny, that's why my bunny has her own room.
Yes!!!

Heres how 2 litter train a bun (i can't help w/ the 2nd part of ur question so hope this helps):

Every few min.s put the rabbit in the litter box. Soon they'll be doing it them selves!!!
umm no, just get a nice big and strong cage!!ive got 2 rabbits and they are heaps happy!!i let my rabbits run around in our front yard its so funny coz they do weird things!!well anyways

cya xx
I owned several small rabbits as a child, and I kept most of them indoors. In fact, keeping them indoors is definitely safest!

The rabbit itself will cost around $10-60, depending on where you buy it. I bought mine as bunnies at swap meets for about $10. A cage will cost around $20-50, and you can use newspaper to line the bottom of the cage. Food is probably the most expensive part, especially if you plan on feeding it food from Petco or Petsmart for long periods of time. One bag of pellets can cost you around $10-20 and will last about a month. If you don't want to go for that, you can always cut carrots and lettuce into small pieces and feed it to your rabbit (I usually fed mine these as treats).

Finally, keep your rabbit and your dog FAR, FAR away from each other. Make sure the cage you buy is very secure and that your dog won't be able to tamper with it until the rabbit is freed.

Tell your parents that rabbits are very quiet and easy to take care of. You can buy special carrying cases for them and take them outside to parks, the yard, etc.

Good luck %26amp; have fun!
I have a small rabbit who live indoors, he is litter box trained and is allow to run around the house. If you have to keep him in a a cage all of the time, I think that is cruel, they need exercise. Having a dog could be a problem, the dog may try to eat him. Cats get along with rabbits better. As far a expense, get good rabbit food and grass or alfalfa at your pet store and bedding material. Be prepared to clean his cage, everyday, they can be messy. Also, do not keep outside caged, that is extremely cruel, and unnatural. Get in touch with a local rabbit society in your area, they have lots of info.
they should livei ndoors bunnies need a lot of love and attention and they make wonderfull pets if u want a playfull pet and i bet u want there are 3 great breeds to ocnsider:

Well, i have 2 rabbits. We have a small yard that is blocked in by a square gate like a square on each side. They absolutely LOVE going out side. You can definately keep it inside but im telling you it will get awfully bored.

Unless your yard or outside ';space'; is an open feild, then definately keep it inside. Any animal can come and kill it the moment you even take the glance. And trust me you'd hate to see that. It is horrible, and i know this because it happened to one of my rabbits. A cat ate him, it's crazy, but it's life. But now i live in a closed in gate yard, and no animal can enter.

You will need a cage, foods such as: pellets, fruits, veggies, etc. But do not give it too much fruits and veggies or that will prevent diarreah. You need to clean the cage everyday and change its water every SINGLE day.

Rabbits cost about $15-20, but i got mine at $15. They arent that much money, but its at that same range.

To convince your parents, you HAVE to be responsible. Because if your not then you cant deal with rabbits. They dont require much work, but seeing you already have a dog and your parents let you, i would tell they would definately let you have a rabbit. Just explain to them you'll be respensible and continue to be. And tell them about how much you'll spend on it, and how you'll clean it's cage everyday and feed it.

But keep the dog FAR FAR away from the rabbit. Especially if your rabbit is new, because he will bother it. That's why you should get a cage for it. Please keep it away from the dog or else he might kill it and that IS NOT a pretty picture. I've been through all of that so dont worry lol.

Hope i helped! To learn more about rabbits in such visit the website below that explains about them.
