What makes for a better pet, kitten or rabbit?

give me full details as to why you think one is better than the other. What makes for a better pet, kitten or rabbit?
Depends on what you want from it and how much money and time you're willing to spend on it.

We have both. I'll tell you that we just got another cat and are so glad we got a one year old kitty. He's still so much a kitten but he's not scratching the heck out of all the kids (okay, just a few times) and he is already cool. We don't have to teach him anything.

If we were to ever get young kittens again we would most definately get two siblings. Its WAY better to do it that way. They attack each other but only play nicely with the kids.

Rabbits.....are a nice compromise between a cat and a dog but most people don't know anything about them. Even basic things like what to feed them. They don't care to do their research before they get a rabbit. People seem to view them as throw away pets like a goldfish they won at the carnival. That's really bad for the rabbit because they die quickly if they are not cared for properly. People buy them from pet stores or when they're too young. They also buy sick rabbits or kill them by feeding the babies greens. There is so much bogus rabbit info out there it amazes me. Rabbit raising is not new but people get bad info when they rely on trendy sources for info.

Rabbits are sooo cool. They love being with people much more than most people realize. They are relatively inexpensive to keep but you've got to get your info from a solid source like the ARBA whose members have been raising rabbits well for a century. What makes for a better pet, kitten or rabbit?
I have/had both. The main thing is rabbits urine stinks like no other smell and I never want to deal with that odor ever again in my life.
I have had both and I am torn as to advise on which is better. They are both GREAT pets. I use to have a kitty and his litter box was luckily outside so i never had to deal with thatn. Now, I have Indoor bunnies and I absolutely LOVE Them.. Their urine does not smell Anyworst than a cats... I much rather deal w/ rabbit urine then cat or dog poop.. That is just gross.. I ldo ove dogs but i dont want to deal with that stinky poo.. Don't want too....

My bunnies are like my kitty's and puppies all in one!!!!!! They are sooooooooooooo smart that they amaze me Everyday.. I dont want to say that they are smarter than a cat or dog but definately in a different way.. the can understand soo much and they can be litter box trained.

I am able to my bunnies get on their hind legs and beg for treats!! I LOVE that it... They are sooooooo cute when they do that.. They love being around people and they love being played with or talked too. I have now trained my house bunnies to stand on their hind legs and WAlk for their treats.. It is utterly amazing..

I dont know if I would of got my cat to do this but i was alot younger back then and didnt' have much time for him, but i want to think i would of trained him to do anything. I mean i did train my cat to go potty outside..

Best of Luck for whichever pet you pick just keep in mind. Rabbits do like to be ignored and paid attention too when they want too, exactly like cats.. And just like cats they need toys to keep them entertained and not bored..

Also if you get a rabbit, you must be bunny proof your house because they do love the chew for it's in their nature.. If they have the toys and old phones books and some safe cardboard stuff they will be ok.

So whichever pet you choose just remember to spend time with them!!!!!!!

Good luck.
i love rabbits they are so cute but i dont know which one to say cuz the both have bad things. Rabbits urine smells but if you are gona keep it in a secure hut outside then go with the rabbit. Kittens seem good cuz the go to the bathroom in a litter box but dont forget when they grow up the could have hairballs which are gross to pick up. My cat who is older has throws up everynight for no reson. it is soooo gross. Rabbits dont throw up but i dont think they are the best for inside cuz then they kinda smell.

well its your call good luck
well...it depends what sort of pet you want...if you want something you'll be able to hold, and that will always let you hold it, id recomend rabbit. if you want something that you can do a bit more with, but requires a bit more work, id suggest cat...the choice really depends on preferance
A kitten is better because they go in a box, you don't put them in a cage, you can play with them, you can take them places, you can put them in pet outfits, they are kind, and they can comfort you when your sad. A rabbit is shy, they are not every nice, they ****** stinck, they bite, they don't play with you and they are not every smart. Kittens are every smart. Trust me I have had cats befor and I had a rabbit. That damn rabbit bit me to where I had bit marks all over my hand. The cat is way better then a bunny. Latter=)

My Lionhead Rabbit Doesnt Like Water What Can I Substitute It With?

My Lionhead Rabbit Hates Drinking Water He Only Drinks It If Hes Really Thirsty What Can I Do To Substitute It?

-Megg xMy Lionhead Rabbit Doesnt Like Water What Can I Substitute It With?
I have had a couple of rabbits, but never had a problem with them drinking. Maybe give your rabbit some veggies as a treat that have a high water content such as celery. Start off slow as too much can give them diarrhea. If the problem persists, as far as not drinking, take the rabbit to the vet as something serious could be wrong. Rabbits are delicate animals. My experience was the rabbits went through a lot of water because of the hay and pellets, so your condition is unusual. If you question the health of your rabbit to any extent, make a quick call to a vet to find out if your rabbit needs to be looked at.My Lionhead Rabbit Doesnt Like Water What Can I Substitute It With?
NOTHING! Do not give your rabbit anything other than water to drink. He is obviously not thirsty all the time. If he doesn't seem to be drinking enough or looks sickly or something, vet him quick. Good luck to you and your bunny.
Lettuce has lots of water in it...but still you should offer water and have it available for the rabbit to drink when he needs to. He can't get to a water spigot, you know.
rabbits need a lot of vitmain C as part of their diet. You can fix his water with a tiny bit of Tang drink mix in it not to much, and see if he will drink that, good luck!
u can't substitute water.... he'll drink if he's thirsty. Just make sure you are putting a few drops of vitamins in with his food, and he should be fine
you can try and give him milk. cuz my rabbit had problems with not drinking water to then i gave him milk and he liked it.

Where can i get a cover for a rabbit hutch with a peaked roof?

I went to homebase / B%26amp; Q. Bought a tarpaulin, cut it to fit and nailed it on. Easy as. You have to change it eventually as the nails rust and the tarp wears, but they can last a good couple of winters. Where can i get a cover for a rabbit hutch with a peaked roof?
go to the craft section of wal mart, and pick out your own fabric and make one your self, its fun, easy, and you can have what ever color you want!Where can i get a cover for a rabbit hutch with a peaked roof?
I used to use a table or bike waterproof cover. Cheaper and fits quite well. Argos sell them

Join a rabbit group at yahoo if ever you come across a problem. Can a rabbit live indoors all the time.?
yes, i keep mine indoor because the neighbor always let her 4 cats run loose. but of course, i have a 2 bedroom house where my rabbit has her own room.

i bought my cage for $45 (petco or petsmart could be too expensive so go ahead and check out other places or you could make your own).

water bottle $4 at walmart

food at pet food express $9 (last for about a month and a half or 2)

hay $10

chew toys around $5

i can't think of anything else at the moment, but trust me ... rabbits are full of fun and they're not so hard to take care of.

for more info check out www.rabbit.org

if you have a hunting dog, it might not be a good idea to own a rabbit. i have 2 small dogs, they and the bunny get along pretty well. the dogs are actually scared of the bunny, that's why my bunny has her own room.
Yes!!!

Heres how 2 litter train a bun (i can't help w/ the 2nd part of ur question so hope this helps):

Every few min.s put the rabbit in the litter box. Soon they'll be doing it them selves!!!
umm no, just get a nice big and strong cage!!ive got 2 rabbits and they are heaps happy!!i let my rabbits run around in our front yard its so funny coz they do weird things!!well anyways

cya xx
I owned several small rabbits as a child, and I kept most of them indoors. In fact, keeping them indoors is definitely safest!

The rabbit itself will cost around $10-60, depending on where you buy it. I bought mine as bunnies at swap meets for about $10. A cage will cost around $20-50, and you can use newspaper to line the bottom of the cage. Food is probably the most expensive part, especially if you plan on feeding it food from Petco or Petsmart for long periods of time. One bag of pellets can cost you around $10-20 and will last about a month. If you don't want to go for that, you can always cut carrots and lettuce into small pieces and feed it to your rabbit (I usually fed mine these as treats).

Finally, keep your rabbit and your dog FAR, FAR away from each other. Make sure the cage you buy is very secure and that your dog won't be able to tamper with it until the rabbit is freed.

Tell your parents that rabbits are very quiet and easy to take care of. You can buy special carrying cases for them and take them outside to parks, the yard, etc.

Good luck %26amp; have fun!
I have a small rabbit who live indoors, he is litter box trained and is allow to run around the house. If you have to keep him in a a cage all of the time, I think that is cruel, they need exercise. Having a dog could be a problem, the dog may try to eat him. Cats get along with rabbits better. As far a expense, get good rabbit food and grass or alfalfa at your pet store and bedding material. Be prepared to clean his cage, everyday, they can be messy. Also, do not keep outside caged, that is extremely cruel, and unnatural. Get in touch with a local rabbit society in your area, they have lots of info.
they should livei ndoors bunnies need a lot of love and attention and they make wonderfull pets if u want a playfull pet and i bet u want there are 3 great breeds to ocnsider:

dutch bunny

lionhead

holland or mini lop

they are great i had all of them and i like lionheads the best

rabbits are easy ot care for

if u want u can spay/neuter ur rabbit ot prevent future whavio rollercoster

sometimes durnign growing up 6-7 month old rabbit will develop a weird behavior they will be aggresive territorial but spaying/neutering wil help and will make litter training easier

and now the costs

rabbit itself will cost u from 30-100$ depending on breed

cage-50-80 $

litter( care fresh or yesterdays new work best)-10-15$

food-5$

dishes,bottles-5$ each

hay( unlimited supply)-5$

chew toys-2,3$
Well, i have 2 rabbits. We have a small yard that is blocked in by a square gate like a square on each side. They absolutely LOVE going out side. You can definately keep it inside but im telling you it will get awfully bored.

Unless your yard or outside ';space'; is an open feild, then definately keep it inside. Any animal can come and kill it the moment you even take the glance. And trust me you'd hate to see that. It is horrible, and i know this because it happened to one of my rabbits. A cat ate him, it's crazy, but it's life. But now i live in a closed in gate yard, and no animal can enter.

You will need a cage, foods such as: pellets, fruits, veggies, etc. But do not give it too much fruits and veggies or that will prevent diarreah. You need to clean the cage everyday and change its water every SINGLE day.

Rabbits cost about $15-20, but i got mine at $15. They arent that much money, but its at that same range.

To convince your parents, you HAVE to be responsible. Because if your not then you cant deal with rabbits. They dont require much work, but seeing you already have a dog and your parents let you, i would tell they would definately let you have a rabbit. Just explain to them you'll be respensible and continue to be. And tell them about how much you'll spend on it, and how you'll clean it's cage everyday and feed it.

But keep the dog FAR FAR away from the rabbit. Especially if your rabbit is new, because he will bother it. That's why you should get a cage for it. Please keep it away from the dog or else he might kill it and that IS NOT a pretty picture. I've been through all of that so dont worry lol.

Hope i helped! To learn more about rabbits in such visit the website below that explains about them.

I would ideally like to find a website that sells hooded tops or dressing gowns with rabbit ears on or a full rabbit suit with a hood instead of the big rabbit head. Will eating meat say pork chops hurt my rabbit?

I have an indoor rabbit and well she likes pork chops but I am not sure if she should be eating them because I don't want to hurt her. She isn't starving because she is fed daily (normal rabbit food) Will eating meat say pork chops hurt my rabbit?
do not feed your bunny pork chops , they need greenery and roughage to POOP. a rabbits digestive tract is not designed to handle MEAT.

they digest food so quickly that you may notice it coming out the same way that it went in. Also please take note that a rabbit cannot be put on a diet or it WILL DIE and I am not making this up once you begin to feed a rabbit an amount of food per day you must maintain that amount or it will die. I have 72 rabbits I raise %26amp; sell them.

What pet do you prefer: cat, dog, bird, rabbit, fish or other?

pick one of these pets, or if you like one not listed, pick otherWhat pet do you prefer: cat, dog, bird, rabbit, fish or other?

    C.) Bird

    D.) Rabbit

    E.) Fish

    G.) All The Above

Hmm...I'll definitely have to go with G. All The Above..(Yes, I know that wasn't one of the options..)What pet do you prefer: cat, dog, bird, rabbit, fish or other?
i love all animals and even though i have a cat now and i love him to death i prefer dogs as pets simply because they'll be your best friend if you show them equal kindness and they will remain with you to comfort you whenever you need it im actually gonna get a new puppy in the coming months and i am soo excited and no i am not getting rid of my cat im keeping his fluffy but too lol
I like them all except for a rabbit.

Fish are pretty as more of a decoration type of thing. Cats are cool. Dogs are fun. Birds are sometimes exotic, which I like.

I consider my plants a pet, they are alive and in my care. They're kinda boring, though.
i like huskies they are cute and i have one it is black and i love it to death i wouldnt give it up for a nickel it is mine and i enjoy it and no one is having it i am not trying to be mean but i love him because he is my dog and i will always have him until he dies :(
I like a lot of animals. I currently have rabbits, a horse, a dog, a lovebird, and a stray cat that showed up.
I would honestly pick a rabbit. I currently have no pets and if i ever do get a rabbit im going to be picky... i only want white rabbits with a pink nose! I LUV RABBITS! please answer my current question.
bunny i raise them i have lionheads and dutch

Does my rabbit like me for food or as a friend?

Well, my baby bunny Ceyla follows me around EVERYWHERE. If I take her downstairs she gets some sort of food...but she also likes to screw around with my dog (my dog doesnt do anything so my bunny thinks its okay to chew on the hair between my dogs toes). So if im eating downstairs she will be all over the food, always trying to get some and I normally give in. So thats 1 reason I think she likes me for food. But every morning she wakes me up, gives me kisses, and sometimes she follows me even though I dont have food. I'm not sure if she just likes to be with me or likes me for food. What do you think? Please explain.Does my rabbit like me for food or as a friend?
She likes you and the food. She likes you because of the food too.Does my rabbit like me for food or as a friend?
When was the last time you saw him? I would wait two days and probably call him to see if he wants to just be friends.
    I've had rabbits.

They like food of course, but your rabbit likes you for your company. Rabbits are social; they like to be with their friends. If yours is still a baby, she probably thinks of you as a mother too. And since she's with you, you become her friend as she grows up.

When a rabbit sees another rabbit eating, naturally it wants to join in. You are somewhat like another rabbit to her. Rabbits like to play and snuggle too.

When I had rabbits, the dogs used to play with them. The dog would bark for the rabbit to run. If the rabbit was in the mood, it would run around with the dog chasing it. It wasn't scared, so it only ran if it wanted to.
If your rabbit didn't like you, she wouldn't follow you around even for food. She'd hide from you or freeze, rabbits have to trust you to spend time with you willingly.
She is probably bonded to you like she would with another rabbit. Of course, she likes the food too. My rabbits will follow me around and groom me, but they also think their names are the sound I make when I shake their treat bag.
both you have a bond with the pet. but will hate you if didn't get food.
Rabbits are very social animals. She enjoys your company, but also associates you with food. If you had another rabbit that she bonded with you would see them grooming each other. Maybe she is ';grooming '; your dog as a way of trying to bond with the dog.

What's the easiest way to trim a rabbit's nails??

Breed is mini-lop, I heard there's a way to hold their hind legs to put them in a trance???What's the easiest way to trim a rabbit's nails??
Again! I use cat's nail trimmers. Normally my mother does the cutting and I hold (restrain) the rabbit. I hold the rabbit between the head and support the behind then set gently down on the grooming table belly face up. That way the other person can trim the nails without a problem. If the bunny jumps up that's ok. Be gentle and flip it over again.

When trimming the nails, try and watch the color of the nails. Normally a different shade color will indicate the blood line. Try to cut above that blood line so that everything is all good. Try to trim the nails about twice a month, or once a month. This will keep your rabbit happy, healthy, and will be easier to handle. What's the easiest way to trim a rabbit's nails??
Probably take it to the vet is the best way, but if you feel you should do it yourself here is how. First, hold the bunny on your lap. Simply lift up the foot and trim the nails. The easiest trimmers are cat nail trimmers. Never trim the pink part of the nail, as this will cause bleeding. If your bunny is not comfortable with you touching its feet, put it in the same position every day and touch its feet. Soon it will become comfortable with this and will be alright with you trimming its nails.
Take bunny to a pet shop or vet for the first trim and watch to see how it is done.

I get a friend to hold bunny (firmly) and I just clip his nails with nail clippers, make sure you DO NOT cut past the quick (pink part of nails) only ever cut the white part of nails. If you cut past the quick, they will bleed very badly.
Its really not that bad. First the easiest way is for one person to hold the rabbit, and one person to trim the nails. The person holding the rabbit should be someone he/she is comfortable around, and hold the rabbit with his paws down on one arm, and have your other hand cover his eyes ( i know it seems silly but it seems that it makes them squirm less). Make sure one foot at a time is not being held. Stroke his head and have the other person cut. Don't cut into the pink part of the nail. Anything below that line is fine. Theres no need to take your rabbit to the vet. it's safe and painless for the rabbit.

PS: if his nail starts to bleed, put some flour on it. It will sting a little for your rabbit but it will stop the bleeding instantly.
Please visit the American Rabbit Breeders Association website for answers to your question. I would find a local breeder and have them show you how to do it. It is not hard to do yourself. It does not have to be done professionally if you learn to do it from a professional! Hope this helps. Tiffanie
, take it to the vets, have it done professionally, better to pay small amount than cause an infection.
    I agree with Betty

What is the Japanese mythological story behind the ';rabbit on the moon';?

I'm not sure - but I found an American Indian legend about it. An author even wrote a child's story about it.The Cree Indians actually came from Asia. So maybe the stories are similar. Please visit web pages listed below for more info
    no... it's a Chinese myth...

do you know about the Chinese's Mid-Autumn Festival...

there is a story behind this festival..

there were 10 suns on the sky in the ancient times. So the people were suffering and many died...

here came a man who was very good in archery and he shot down 9 suns.. that's why we only have 1 sun on the sky NOW...

since that the man became the hero and became the king...

however the hero became arrogant and violent once he gained too much power... and he even hired some people to make him ';magic pills';, which could make him immortal.

However, his wife was very worried about it... She scared that once he becomes immortal, he will become even cruel and the people will suffer more...

So one night, she decided to eat the pills herself...she then flew to the moon and lived there and became immortal..

    she is Chang-er...

and the RABBITS were just her accompaniments on the moon:)
it's not a japanese story. it's a sri lankan story

Try to find the money to take her to the vet (charge it), if you cant...

How old is she? When did she stop eating? Is she drinking? Try banana balls before you try force feeding (because of risk of inhaling food).

    Melissa's Banana-Pellet Balls

For rabbits who aren't eating because they've just had surgery, have sore teeth, or who are elderly or are depressed, you might also try the very famous Melissa's Banana-Pellet Balls, developed by Elizabeth TeSelle. These are high-protein and high-fat and not suitable as a steady diet for young healthy rabbits.

    You will need

    * electric coffee grinder ($12.00 at Target or Wal-Mart)

    * 1/2 banana

    * 1/3 c. pellets

    * rolled oats (bulk rolled oats from a health food store or Quaker Old Fashioned rolled oats -- NOT quick-style)

    * non-dairy acidophilus, ProZyme, or whatever else you need or want to add

Mash 3/4-1 banana in a shallow bowl with a fork. Add acidophilus and mash it in. Grind up 1/3 - 1/2 c. dry pellets in coffee grinder until they are dust, and add slowly to banana. Cream the pellet dust into the banana with a fork just as you would cream butter and sugar. The mixture will be very stiff. When fully blended, add a small amount of rolled oats and cream again.

Form the mixture into stiff balls with your hands. It should make 2-3 balls, enough for one or two meals per day. Discuss the amount with your vet and weigh your rabbit weekly to ensure that she is maintaining weight (or gaining, if that is what is desired).

Some rabbits may like the mixture firmer and others may like it gooier. Experiment a little to see what your bunny prefers. You can add a little less pellet dust to make it gooier, or make the recipe as is and add a small amount of banana baby food. Do not add water, as it provides no calories. My female rabbit has lost weight since we got her two days ago and is not eating, barely moving what do i do?
Take her to a rabbit savvy vet. She can die very quickly from not eating. If you cannot afford a vet, you should not have gotten her.
your bunny might have an intestinal problem. :)

best to go the vet. get someone to fund for you, and you can pay them back at a later date. if not, your bunny could risk death.

    good luck!

hope your bunny feels better soon.
take her to the vet would probally be your best option if you dont want to lose her because i dont mean to scare you but thats what my cuzins rabbit did and they didnt take him to the vet and he died if you have been to the vet before you can pay some of the fee now and pay the rest off when you have the moneyjust talk to them they will understand

Should i get a guinea pig or a rabbit?

my mom said that if i prove myself responsible, then i might be able to get a pet. the only problem is, i really dont know what to get!!! i either want to get a guinea pig or a rabbit! please help! my other pets are a dog and a cat. i also have a 2 yr old sis.Should i get a guinea pig or a rabbit?
I think a guinea pig might be alittle less work than a rabbit and cheaper. You may want to also consider guinea pigs live for about 4-6 yrs. and rabbits( especially female rabbits) can live for 10-15 yrs. or more if they are fixed. If they aren't fixed it's a high chance that she will get cancer. Both of them also need alot of out of cage time to keep them happy too. Good luck with your decision, both of them are extra nice.Should i get a guinea pig or a rabbit?
Good Luck! I'm happy for you. They are alot of fun, but be careful and always supervise the dog,cat and lil' sis cause they could seriously hurt the guinea pig(s). and give them a hidey place so if they get too scared they can hide.

Please let me have one i will feed it everyday. my life depends onit. also show them these pics and say can you say no to these faces.Convincing my parents to let me have a rabbit?
Don't pout! Pouting never seems to solve anything. Go to someone who owns a rabbit, get the costs from them, and learn all you can. Maybe by helping them take care of the rabbit, so you know what to do if you get one of your own. Rabbits aren't really a dirty animal unless you don't clean their cage. If you do get a rabbit, don't ask your parents for help taking care of it.
You will have to prove to them that you are old enough %26amp; responsible enough to care for a pet. The most important thing is to prove you can look after yourself %26amp; are always willing to help our parents around the home. If you can prove that then remember when you go away on holiday YOU will have to find someone to take care of your pet (not your parents) YOU. They are really easy to keep look after as long as you clean them out at least once a week %26amp; handle them daily. Hope you can pass your parents approval %26amp; Good luck.
Contrary to some belief, rabbits are very clean animals. It's their cages that stink if not properly cared for. The buildup of amonia in the urine and fecal matter can cause the stentch. It is important to change the bedding no less than once a week and wash the cage after removing the bedding to remove the build up of waste that is left behind.

It does cost money to keep a rabbit. You have to purchase Timothy hay and feed it in unlimited amounts daily. This can cost anywhere from $4.00 for a small bag to $15 for a larger bag, depending on where you live. Rabbits must have hay to provide fiber and keep their digestive tract moving properly. You will need some pellet and pellet food can run anywhere from $5-$10 per bag. You will need bedding and the bedding is the most expensive item of all. This can run you anywhere from $10-$25 per bag, depending on what brand and how much you use. NO WOOD BASED BEDDING. Even though people think the aroma of the wood smells good and will keep the scent down in the cage, it does harm to your rabbits by causing respiratory illness, liver and kidney damage.

The initial cost is what is so expensive really. You have to get a cage, water bottle/dish, food dish, toys, bedding, hay, food.

Rabbits also need Vet care, so be prepared for that.

If you are ready and willing to make the financial committment, as well as devote much time to your rabbit for social interaction and daily exercise, then you may be ready for a rabbit. Otherwise, don't get one if you are going to become tired of it and give it away.

    Good luck!
Tell them you will clean the cage and clean up after the rabbit. Look up a bunch of stuff like what rabbits eat to show how much you know. A rabbit isn't that much responsibility. Besides they could always sell it if they don't like it. Make sure to mention you'll pay for supplies and food with your own money.
Eat carrots and lettuce everyday and when they start to look worried and ask why you are eating them all the time you can say it's the nearest thing you can get to having a pet rabbit.

I bet they laugh and let you have one.
Le to them and tell them you are getting very depressed. Then tell them that rabbit are scientificaly proven to lower the child suicide rate. (idk if it is,lol)
lol...rabbits clean themselves like cats, can be litter trained....really quiet and cxan be trained to do stuff! Like a dog/ cat but cuter!
Ask for a rotweiler dog and then they're bound to just let you have a rabbit!!!
keep your room tidy from now on

and offer to buy things yourself

    keep the rabbit outisde
Work for some money and just buy one. They will see how cute it is and see how you clean it out by yourself! lol and will let you keep it.
Just tell them that if they don`t like it after a certain time they can always kill it and eat it.
Sarah, this is so wrong, have a human baby like everyone else, it will be better in the long run.

Has anybody ever preserved the skin of a rabbit. What did you use?

Is this illegal in the uk nowadaysHas anybody ever preserved the skin of a rabbit. What did you use?
Yes. Borax. If you want the skin to remain pliable, you have to tan it though. If memory server, this can be done with a tanning solution of 1 gal. (U.S.) of water, 1 lb table salt, and 1 1/2 oz hydrochloric acid. This will retain the hair, more or less. Rabbit is a very poorly wearing fur, lasting about 1/10 as long as otter (the standard)..Has anybody ever preserved the skin of a rabbit. What did you use?
WHY WOULD YOU PUT THIS IN PETS?!?
why would you want to even if it is legal

    you are cruel
As far as legality goes. IF it is leagal for you to kill it, it is legal for you to do as you wish with it.

Here is a link for tanning the hides.

Living in a unit with a dwarf rabbit?

Hi there, how many of you bunny owners out there live in a apartment/ unit etc with a dwarf rabbit. Do you find it suitable?Living in a unit with a dwarf rabbit?
I live in an apartment and own a mini-lop. Small animals are great for limited space. Of course, small rabbits are known to be quite energetic so they need a lot of exercise so as long as you can provide that, then there is no problem with having an apartment bunny. The only concern is air circulation as sometimes small apartments can get really hot (or cold especially in the basement) and stuffy so keep an eye on that =) Living in a unit with a dwarf rabbit?
I live in an apartment and my little guy isn't a dwarf but he is a american tan / mini lop mix that weighs about 3 pounds and he does absolutely fantastic in an apartment. He has the whole place to run around and play and he loves it.

step 3- get a gravity water bottle

    http://www.rabbitstop.com/Merchant2/merc鈥?/a>
You could use a water bottle for rabbits.

Personally, I like the bowls. They are much easier to clean than water bottles. Use heavy crocks that can't be tipped over or one that clamps to the side of her cage. Make sure it is big enough to hold enough water so she does not run out in a day. Rabbits don't usually pee in a water bowl that is full of water. Pour out old water and refill with fresh water every day. Keep it filled, keep it clean.
Buy a water bottle and scoop her pee into a litter box.

My rabbit seems to be tired a lot recently, is he sick?

My rabbit is usually so bubbly and excitable all the time, but for the past few days he hasn't been himself. He seems to lie around all day and when we let him out he just lies around (he usually binkies all over the place!). Could he be depressed? He is eating and drinking as usual and physically he seems fine. His faeces are fine too, I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. Any advice would be gratefully received. My rabbit seems to be tired a lot recently, is he sick?
Just like humans animals can feel a bit down too.

But I would advice you to take him to the vets just in case it is something more serious.

Hope this helps. My rabbit seems to be tired a lot recently, is he sick?
When it comes to animals, a sudden change in attitude means usually somethings wrong especially if its been going on for a couple days.

    Ask yourself these questions:

1.) How long has this been going on for? More then 3-4 days?

2.) Has this even happened before?

3.) Has he lost interest in what he usually has interest in?

4.) Does he look sick? (Runny Nose, limping, not eating, ect.)

If most of these are negative results, then you should probably contact a local vet.

    Hope i helped!
He could be getting sick-- listlessness is a good first sign of illness. Take him in to the vet to be checked out.
I suggest you to take him to the vet.

    I found these sites:

1)Can an angora rabbit go into depression?

Yes, they can. Get them to a vet.

    http://language.rabbitspeak.com/

    2)Sadness %26amp; Fear

An unhappy rabbit will usually lay its ears back with the openings down, and turn itself either to the side or toward you nervously. The farther back the ears fall, the more unhappiness is indicated. This differs from other ear-back signals, which require that the rabbit firmly face toward you (anger), crouch or turn sideways with ear openings turned sideways (fear), or pointedly turn its back (insult).

A more mild signal of unhappiness (or even some anger) is having one ear facing backward and one forward, or one ear down and one up. These usually indicate a rabbit that is less than happy, but sometimes for only vaguely defined reasons. A little grooming or a raisin gift can often turn that frown upside down. A more serious sulk is indicated by ears tilted far back, or (even worse) tilted back and facing down, all done while lying facing you (or facing to the side; not directly away from you, which is an outright insult) in a meatloaf position. This is a seriously sad rabbit, and you should take some time to think about what might be wrong. It might even be sick, so check the litterbox for evidence.

Note that rabbits often sleep lying with their ears laid back in a fashion very similar to the ';sulking'; signal and with their eyes narrowed but not closed. They always have particular places they sleep, though, so you probably won't confuse the two.

A nervous or frightened rabbit will face its ears backward and lower them, but with the openings facing sideways rather than back, and often will point its ears a bit out to the side rather than straight back. If you reach for your rabbit and it lowers its head and ears, spreading its ears or tilting both ears to one side rather than keeping them pointed straight back, it is scared. This is usually accompanied with a stance that leaves the rabbit ready to flee, and may include ducking the head. Mild nervousness may be sometimes shown by stance alone. A scared rabbit will not stand aggressively as if it's about to charge you, like an angry one will, although otherwise the signals can be a bit related (as are fear and anger).

A rabbit that is dismayed, confused, or trying but not succeeding in communicating with you will sometimes wince. In a wince, one eye gets closed, and the whole forehead moves toward that eye. It's over in just a second. It looks something like a wink, but it's a signal of mild unhappiness. When you first try using some of the signals described here, you may get winced at, generally because your body language is not consistent with the signal you're giving or something about the context is just not right. If your rabbit winces when you try to communicate, you probably need to work more on your conversational skills. However, most rabbits should eventually learn to understand you once they get used to your incredibly bad accent.

A rabbit that is very scared or nervous may ';thump'; a hind leg, slapping it hard against the ground. This isn't just a warning to other rabbits, but to you, too. Note that rabbits sometime also thump to indicate anger, or even just to say ';pay attention,'; but it should be pretty easy to distinguish these by the context.

A rabbit that is scared but can't run, or one that is nervous, may chatter its mouth (the way humans do when they're cold). Chattering teeth or loud tooth grinding (not the soft kind heard sometimes during grooming) can also indicate a rabbit in pain, so you should do some checking for indication that it's sick.

Some rabbits will mutter nervously to themselves. This sound is usually a little higher pitched than the happy mumbling of a rabbit being groomed, and sounds very different from a rabbit grunting as it eats or grunt-growling at you when it's angry. I've been told, though, that some rabbits just always are muttering to themselves, and in such cases doesn't necessarily indicate nervousness, but is probably just comfortable social mumbling. In fact, female rabbits may ';coo'; while nursing their pups. The context of the situation should make the meaning pretty clear.

When a rabbit is frustrated with being locked in its cage it may loudly toss things around or otherwise ';rattle the bars.'; This is meant to get your attention, of course, and typically is a request to be allowed out.

Finally, a rabbit in terror or in severe, acute pain may scream. I'm told it is a terrible sound, but, fortunately, I've never heard this vocalization. I sincerely hope you never hear it either.

I love pets. At home we have two dogs. I wish this problem will be solved.Good luck!

Can my Rabbit have a play pen as a cage?

OH and what can i use for the bottom of the cage? And easy to clean and just to let you know im only 13 so ya. nothin expensive please. Can my Rabbit have a play pen as a cage?
They can live in things like x-pens for dogs, or if you build a pen yourself. It will have to be tall enough that the rabbit cannot jump out, and some rabbits can jump surprisingly high.

For a flooring you can use something like old sheets, some short carpeting, coroplast, there's a company online somewhere that make trays like the ones in dog kennels somewhere too. You can use grass mats, a normal plastic mat as long as it's not very bumpy or slotted, as these can hurt their feet.

Rabbits can be litter trained, so you can place something over your floor for now and then you can let your rabbit roam around on your flooring once it's litter trained. They are very clean, and may have a few stray poo pellets, but the pee will always be in the box as long as you get your rabbit spayed/neutered.Can my Rabbit have a play pen as a cage?
they could but it would have to be rather talll so your rabbit couldnt junp out

as the bottom you could use a kitty pool (one of those plastic ones)

  • A dead rabbit was found on my uncle's grave and my mom is freaking does it mean anything? anything bad?

My mom and aunt are very upset I feel as if it is a coincidence and means nothing but I told them I would research it for them and have been unable to find anything. Is there any negative connotations to a dead rabbit on a grave is there some kind of symbolism or any reason someone might do it on purpose thank you for your help.A dead rabbit was found on my uncle's grave and my mom is freaking does it mean anything? anything bad?
No. It simply means that a rabbit ended up breathing his last on the patch of earth that covers your uncle's remains. It is simply chance. We live in a world of finite space - Earth is only so large, and eventually something occurs on every single square inch of its surface that is totally normal and natural - even the death of a rabbit.

    It is human superstition and ego that insists on ascribing supernatural connotations to every single event in our lives like some barrage of daily omens. I see questions like this every day: ';A bird flew in my house - does it mean anything?';

Yeah. It means you left your window open.

    ';There was a hobo staring at me whenever I went outside today - does it mean anything?';

Yeah. He could be sizing you up in order to decide whether to rob your house, or maybe you just look like someone he knows and he's just curious.

Normal everyday occurrences happen without having any meaning at all beyond what we ascribe to them from our own imaginations.A dead rabbit was found on my uncle's grave and my mom is freaking does it mean anything? anything bad?
Nope. the rabbit couldn't get its own ideas so it was like ';Hmmmm I'll do this too'; Also it was probably old and rabbits die randomly all the time (personal experience)
rabbits usually refer to fertility or babies. is someone you know pregnant? tell them to be careful.

Why is the left hind foot of a rabbit known to be a good luck charm?

When did this superstition first come about and where did it originate???... Thanks so much... JessiWhy is the left hind foot of a rabbit known to be a good luck charm?
Early man was puzzled by the rabbit: at the rabbit's cleverness while hunting, its ability to burrow underground, its meetings with other rabbits on moonlit evenings. Man was particularly impressed by the animal's swiftness, which was due to its powerful hind legs. The rabbit became a sign of good fortune, and its hind foot became a treasured amulet. Why is the left hind foot of a rabbit known to be a good luck charm?
From the point of view of the rabbit, it's not really a sign of good luck, is it? (I like the other person's answer, personally, but had to throw this in there.)
Wikipedia says that the belief originates in the system of African-American folk magic known as hoodoo. (Which is distinct from the Haitian religion of voodoo)

How many mpg does the new Volkswagon (VW) Rabbit get?

I can't find it on the VW website, so does anyone know how many miles per gallon the new Volkswagon Rabbit gets? Thanks. :)How many mpg does the new Volkswagon (VW) Rabbit get?
    All 3 of my Golfs ('87, '95 and '00) AVERAGED 28-30 MPG

(combination of local and highway driving)

FYI- They were all standard transmission, which is a bit better on fuel consumption than automatics. How many mpg does the new Volkswagon (VW) Rabbit get?
    26 not much

    try the Dodge Caliber 32
VW is claiming 30mpg highway, which most likely is more like 24-27 city/hwy combined, not bad (average nowadays I guess) but you have to consider that the only motor available is a 2.5 liter 5-cylinder you understand why...

Kinda big motor for a fuel sipper, and not the best set up for mileage when most high MPG cars have 4 cyl motors less than 2.0 liters....it all comes down to how you drive and the way the car drives.

Drive one first to figure out if you even like it before looking at MPG figures...

I love VW's but be realistic, if you're looking to buy a VW, gas mileage is not going to be the best reason to buy a new Rabbit.

Buy it for the German engineering, handling and the all that stuff....a good German car is going to like to be driven hard. You're foot is going to be in it a LOT, and MPG will suffer just from the fun of driving it factor....

The 2.5 is supposed to be the best combination of good MPG and power for a German entry level car...there aren't any other German cars in this price range...

So for gas mileage, buy a Kia or a Toyota, if yo really want a German car at a good price go with the VW.
According to VW,the new Rabbit gets up to 30 miles per gallon. The new Jetta, with the same 2.5 engine is getting over 30 on the hwy.The Rabbit has less weight,so I expect it to do better than 30 as well. But like any car,if you drive it fast and hard, your fuel usage will suffer. The new Rabbit is so much fun to drive that it will be hard not to put your foot into it.Drivers Wanted. We do not sell ';appliances ';on wheels. We sell cars that are fun to drive, and meant to be driven. The Rabbit is fun, safe, and affordable(14990.00).Drive it,you'll get it! vwjcook@yahoo.com

Can anyone pls tell me what is the important for growth and repair in a rabbit ?

A ration of alfalfa pellets and a big pile of a low-calorie hay like Timothy makes a good basic diet. Calf manna, a feed supplement for pregnant cattle, is good for animals that need to build bones and muscles. You can get it at a feed store or maybe a health food store; ask if you can get a small bag instead of a 25lb one. Large rabbits can get about a tablespoon a day.

Get a scale and start weekly weighings. If your rabbit is young, or has lost weight due to injury or illness, it ought to grow slowly. If your rabbit is at a healthy weight for its breed and build, adjust its food so its weight is stable.

Rabbits can make all the nutrients they need, just from commercial rabbit food. They don't need additional protein or greens; in fact, extra foods can give them serious digestive problems. Alfalfa has a lot of protein for a plant, and bacteria in rabbits' intestines create new protein that the rabbits can absorb. They don't need as much variety in their diet as we do; just pellets, hay, and maybe a mineral salt block from the pet store. Can anyone pls tell me what is the important for growth and repair in a rabbit ?
Well protein is needed for growth and repair and rabbits are generally vegetarian. I'm vegetarian and good forms of protein for me are spinach and mushrooms so I guess you could try them - it makes sense although a little weird with my thinking behind it.Can anyone pls tell me what is the important for growth and repair in a rabbit ?
Not too many carrots as carrots are to rabbits like chocolate is to people!

Bunnies need lots of hay as this is good for their digestive system, fresh veg and clean water everyday, lots of play time (exercise) and a complete foods as the multicoloured varieties that are widely available are full of sugar.
    Carrots.
if your rabbit is injured take it to a vet because rabbits do not have a good immune response .
contact your local pet vet I know there is a nutritional diet for the babies it has peas, honey, yams, eggs, vegetable oil and evaporated milk I am not sure of the measurements but your local pet place may be able to tell you GOOD LUCK..
a healthy balanced diet, including raw vegetables such as carrot, cabbage, lettuce etc and roughage and fibre such as hay, straw and ready made rabbit mixes.
You need to be sure to give them plenty of vitamin C.
A balanced healthy diet is what your rabbit needs

    GOOD LUCK!
A healthy balanced diet is propbably the best answer. Why not add to that some specialist products from companies such as PetAlive or Cocoon Nutrition. There are many such companies that can be found on the web that produce suppliments containing essential vitiamins and minerals designed to cover a wide range of ailments and condition

No cow's milk. You will use kitten milk replacer or goat's milk. This page has a section on caring for orphaned domestic babies. http://www.rabbit.org/care/orphan.html You will need to feed twice a day, and they will need to be stimulated to eliminate. They are very hard to hand raise, so good luck!HELP my rabbit gave birth to 8 little bunnies but she died?
Okay, this will be long, but here goes!

One of my rabbits, when I was younger, had a litter, but did not want to care for them. Baby bunnies are tricky to care for all on your own, but it CAN be done!

First of all, I definitely agree with everyone suggesting to call a vet. Your local vet should be able to tell you if there is any specific formula you can use to feed the buns. Until then, you can get KMR: Kitten Milk Replacement from pretty much any pet store.

Also while you are at the pet store, you will need to get a syringe. Not a bottle - buns have sharp teeth that will chew into the nipple of the bottle! You can get syringes, usually in multi-packs, that will have CC's (the measurement) marked out on the side. They will also have different types of tips available; if you can get one with a mostly-pointed tip this will be the biggest help. Don't worry - these syringes do NOT use needles and so will be just fine to use!

When you feed the buns, draw some of the formula up into the syringe. It is a good idea to tap out any air bubbles, if possible. Gently, *slowly* drip some of the formula into the babies' mouths. Keep doing this until they seem no longer interested in the food. Once you are done feeding them, you will need to stimulate their digestive system: you need to help them poo! Mother rabbits will do this by licking the bunnies' bellies with their tongues; you can simulate this same effect by using a warm, damp wash cloth to gently stroke their tummies, in one direction, from the ribs down toward the tail. This will encourage them to poop and/or pee, and is necessary to keep their digestion going!

You will need to feed the babies every few hours, including during the night! Keep this up, but don't lose hope; baby bunnies grow up very quickly.

Definitely keep the babies in a warm place. If you have a solid box, that can be closed most of the way and shut out light, this will help the best to keep the buns calm and help them to sleep. Put several clean towels in the box, and place the babies in. Be sure to keep it in a nice warm place, but do not overheat it! The towels, plus the other bunnies, will help keep warm.

You will be surprised at how fast the baby bunnies will grow. Before you know it, you'll start to see hair coming in, and shortly after, their eyes will open! It's a beautiful thing, to see those newborn eyes seeing the big world for the first time. :)

If it gets hard, don't be afraid to call your vet and ask for help. Or see if there is a rabbit rescue that might be able to offer some tips %26amp; tricks.

    Good luck with the buns!!
Call a vet, or the humane society or any other group that takes in rabbits. They should be able to tell you what kind of milk to give rabbits, I've heard you can give them the kitten milk supplement they sell in some pet stores, but I would get an expert's opinion first. They will need special bottles or possibly needle-less syringes to be fed, and they will need a lot of feeding. I'm so very sorry for your loss and the amount of work that you have ahead of you raising those babies. I hope everything goes well.
make sure u keep them warm this is the most important thing. u can get a shringe and feed them lactol u can get this from any pet shop. but read up on how to feed them properly with the syringe first .

ma by evan but a WARM water bottle underneath them with a blanket and some hay on top of it and then but the bunnies there and then cover them up with fur from the doe. good luck
The baby rabbits must go to a vet, it will be costy but it WILL save their lives. The vet will keep them nice and warm like their mother would and feed them special formulas (much cheaper than buying the formula).

Terribly sorry to hear about your rabbit :(.
they are not bunnies they are baby rabbits and feed them cat replacement

How much hay do i use for my rabbit?

Hi i have just bought a dwarf lug rabbit i'm not sure on how much hay to put in his bed i have speaded some wood shavings outside his bed any info will be greatHow much hay do i use for my rabbit?
Rabbits need to EAT an unlimited amount of hay... are you putting this poor thing outside? How much hay do i use for my rabbit?
You should be using straw for his bedding and if you are trying to keep it warm you need to put it on all the sides of the walls and about an inch or two for the floor. they are used to small warm spaces just don't put any on the top he will borrow down in it when you get done any ways and make it comfy the way he wants it but you need to insulate the walls and the floor definatly.
do not use wood shavings coz i have heard that its bad for your rabbit. Use a paper-based one. For his bed, may be 3 times his size or so? He would eat it anyway. Giving your bunny unlimited hay is great.
try with some and see how it works out. I guess there should be enough for him to be a bit wrapped up.
I would put like 1 to 2 big handfuls are if the place is big.

For example if i breed a mini lop rabbit with a other breed will it give birth to both breeds?

For example I breed a mini lop with a completely different breed of rabbit which its ears don't lop. Will the Mini lop doe give birth to a rabbit with lop ears or ears that go up if the buck is a rabbit with ears that go up. Just asking this question to know don't give me answers like I shouldn't breed rabbits or purebred or crossbreed I'm just asking to question to knowFor example if i breed a mini lop rabbit with a other breed will it give birth to both breeds?
    Hello,

Upright ears tend to be the 'Dominant' gene out of the two. However its a chance you could have 50/50 uprights %26amp; lop eared or 'semi' lops(One ear up one ear down). I bred one of my Mini Lop Bucks to a Dutch doe(they have upright ears) the WHOLE litter had upright ears,i had another litter, with the same Sire %26amp; Dam,same results except one kit which had a slight floppy ear. Depends on the breed with the upright ears,as crossing lop %26amp; Lionhead may end up with a few lops, since it tends to be in their genetics more. So yeah, you may have a whole litter of lops or a whole litter of Upright ears,or a bit of both.

Good luck! Oh %26amp; if you view my website on my profile(click on my name) you can see 2 of my Mini Lop x Dutch rabbits,on 'My Bucks'.xxxFor example if i breed a mini lop rabbit with a other breed will it give birth to both breeds?
It really depends on the genes. I have had two different breeds, one lop and one other, breed together, and some of the babies come out with lop ears, some with straight ears, and I think one time we actually had one that came out with ears that kinda were halfway between straight and down! So it just really depends on the genetics. But I would say your odds of getting lop and straight ears are 50/50, if both the male and female are purebred in their own individual breeds. Good luck and God Bless!
You could have some with lop ears, some with non lop ears and some with non lop ears that are floppy.
it would be a mix, 50/50

How do you get Jelly out of a rabbit jelly mould?

I believe u put the mould on a plate and run the mould under a hot tap, just to loosen the edges. How do you get Jelly out of a rabbit jelly mould?
dip the mould in hot water for a few seconds then it will loosen the jelly and come out easilyHow do you get Jelly out of a rabbit jelly mould?
    eat it
sit the jelly mould in a small amount of hot water for a few seconds and then try. Keep doing this until the mould comes out.
sit it in a bowl of boiling water for just a few seconds it will come out easy
TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN ON A PLATE, PUT A WARM/HOT TOWEL OVER THE MOLD AND WAIT TILL IT DROPS OUT.
Alan is spot on. I love Jelly, I'd just eat it out of the mold.
With great difficulty. Why make shaped jelly moulds if you cant get the jelly out. Hope you find your answer

Can a rabbit give birth twic ein one month?

my rabbi gave bith 2 days ago but lost the litter. they all died. but she is still realy big on one side of her stomach and there does feel lie there another one in there! she never pulled any fu with the last litter and it was her first. i now its a long shot but is it possible for a rabbit to give bith twice in one month. the ';lump'; feels more up twards the ribs than anything and i checed her over there is no bleeding etc?Can a rabbit give birth twic ein one month?
It sounds like she may have a dead baby inside her. Take her to the vet asap.

Rabbits can give birth every month. The term ';breed like rabbits'; comes from the fact that females can become pregnant again right after they have their babies. They have this ability because they are the main food source for a variety of predators. If they did not breed so often, they would soon be extinct in the wild. Can a rabbit give birth twic ein one month?
a healthy rabbit will have it's litter (babies) within an hour. She may fall pregnant again and have another litter four weeks later. Your rabbit cannot give birth one day, and then a couple of days later again; it has a problem. Could be a baby stuck inside. Keep an eye on her general health; if she seems ok, it could just be your imagination.

We used to shred newspaper for the rabbits, and put it in a wooden box in their cage. They would use this, combined with some of their own fur, as their nest. Better luck next time!
Take her to the vet one might be dead in there and could kill her
sure i don't see why not

Latter=)

  • My Lionhead Rabbit Doesnt Like Water What Can I Substitute It With?

A rabbit can definitely be an indoor pet. In fact in my opinion, its much safer for them.

CAGE : basic plastic bottom cage $ 80.oo or a larger one for about $130.oo.

    Well, okay, my choices are:

    A.) Cat

    B.) Dog

    C.) Bird

    D.) Rabbit

    E.) Fish

    F.) Other

    ~OR~

  • Does my rabbit like me for food or as a friend?

What is the most expensive breed of rabbit?

The giants. Continental giants are around £200.

I think any one who trys to sell any rabbit for more then that are crazy, they only live for like 3-5 years.

I have two dwarf-lops and i payed £20 each for them

    Netherland i payed £5

    Lionhead i payed £15

Continental giant i payed £12 ( but they did lie to me about her breed)

    Dutch £4

    Dutch £Free

I dont think they are that expensive. What is the most expensive breed of rabbit?
What makes a rabbit expensive is either quality or rarity. A top show winning animal in a very competitive breed like Mini Rex, Holland Lop or Netherland Dwarf will set you back big bucks.

The new breeds are also expensive due to their rarity. People are paying obscenely high process for barely adequate Lionheads because they are new. The Velveteen Lops are also more expensive than they will be once they are more wide spread. Both these breeds are in the process of obtaining ARBA standardization.

People pay these prices because they think it is a good investment. It It may or may not be depending on how good a breeder you are. Bringing in really good blood only helps if you are smart about how you use it. The bubble always bursts in the rarer breeds as they become more common. If you don't have good ones, the market at decent prices quickly evaporates. What is the most expensive breed of rabbit?
Most of the time the expensive ones are the new and upcoming breeds. These are rabbits that have not been approved by the ARBA yet but breeders are working on them to make them presentable to pass the standard.

Any breed can have expensive rabbits. If a rabbit has won many BIS and has acquired it's Grand Champion certificate it will be more to purchase than a rabbit that has never been shown.

Prices can range from free to hundreds of dollars, even thousands.

So you can't really say one breed is more expensive than another. Many factors depend on what the rabbit is worth.
Yeah I'm guessing the giant breeds such as Flemish and German Giant, they are commonly bred for meat but they make great pets. Second would be the common Lops, purebred which are used for show such as Hollands, French then the Dwarfs and so on...

My rabbit is limping on his front paw?

He can walk and everything, but he just looks kinda funny doing it. He puts some pressure on it, but I can tell something is wrong. When he jumps off something, even if its like 5 inches, he shakes his paw really hard like it hurt or something. There is no visible injuries. What could this be? Should I go to a vet?My rabbit is limping on his front paw?
i agree with the person above me u should also go to the vet to see whats up if that doesnt work :)

i love rabbits btw :DMy rabbit is limping on his front paw?
well do you have any plants with thorns? it could just have an inbeded thorn tak a magnifying glass look a the bad paw, and if you see anything unusal atempt to extract it with tweezers. if you don't see anything, take him to the vet to get his foot x-rayed

My rabbit had 7 babies and they all died when should i re-bred her?

This is y rabbit's 4th litter the first litter died(that's common) in the other 2 litters they have all survived but one that got out of the nest box and got cold. I was wondering when i should re-bred her because all the other times i waited tell after she weaned them. just to let you know she is a mini Rex cross and is 3 years old.My rabbit had 7 babies and they all died when should i re-bred her?
You can rebreed her anytime, although I usually wait 2-3 days with mine if they have a dead litter. Does that I wean babies off of I usually rebreed 12 weeks after kindling (this gives the doe about a month break after weaning the kits).

Also if you are wanting to continue breeding rabbits I strongly suggest you get some quality purebred animals and consider joining the ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association). For a small membership fee they send you an EXCELLENT book that has invaluable information in it for anyone wanting to breed/raise rabbits. You will also get a monthly magazine that lists all the shows in every state. Shows are a great way to meet other breeders, gain information, find good quality breeding stock and have lots of fun :)My rabbit had 7 babies and they all died when should i re-bred her?
i know a lot about rabbits i breed mine and i have four and 2 litters soon and you could rebreed her soon just wait 2 weeks after you breed her if she had a litter already and they died then wait a month o kay
I would wait a few weeks for her to rest.

You really should not breed a mixed breed rabbit. There are enough rabbits in shelters that need homes.

  • My rabbit has pimples on his penis?

My rabbit has pimples on his penis and I was wondering why and if it is harmful. Also, how do you treat them?My rabbit has pimples on his penis?
Sometimes bucks get this. It is not anything to worry about. If it gets worse or he develops sores on or around his genitals he needs to be treated for vent disease. You will then need to see a vet with your rabbit. My rabbit has pimples on his penis?
    hahahahhaha

    your rabbit got the herps.
